I'm not sure if I just woke up on the wrong side of the bed, but I've been thinking about this a lot:
You know, I get dismissals like "I forget things too, it happens/not a big deal" ALL THE TIME.
Yes. It does happen. But for it to happen this often (dozens of times a day) and to happen when it didn't used to happen...naturally gets to you.
Just like you don't tell people whose eyesight deteriorates with age that "there are blind people out there, you're fine", you don't tell us "there are dumb people out there, it's normal" when we do something dumb and get upset by it.
I didn't used to be forgetful; I didn't used to feel dumb*.
This isn't my norm; this isn't our norm.
This is a new life, a new us, and sometimes we struggle with figuring it out. We may complain and joke about it occasionally, but the battles we fight silently are infinitely bigger and way more often than what you see.
Ignorance is bliss...
*i know we're not supposed to call ourselves names, it's for argument's sake.
