Book Launch: It's finally here!

I am excited to announce that all the years of hard work have paid off and I'm ready to launch the book! Join me on February 22, 6:30-9:30pm at Lago Bar and Grill, 1001 Queen Elizabeth Drive for an amazing evening out sponsored by MG Law. No tickets are required, but RSVP is appreciated to estimate attendance. Just a few of the things you can expect from the evening (full schedule to follow): a Love Your Brain meditation session by Ottawa's own Kate Durie guest speaker, Gordon Stringer, to talk about Rowan's Law and concussion education a keynote by former NHL player,...

If this were the Oscars, I'd get dragged off

Wow. Yesterday. I'm not entirely sure how I'm going to do this right now - SO exhausted but let's try. Where to start? As you may know, I had received an incredible opportunity about 1.5 weeks ago to participate in a local art show, RAW. It's an international show that comes to various cities. This one broke all Ottawa records in ticket sales and it was packed! Thank you to all who contributed on my part, for braving the downpour (and the crazy line up to get in apparently?!?!), for showing your support, for staying up late on a school night,...

I matter or not matter, that is the Question

I've been noticing a lot of comments coming my way recently about how I'm an inspiration, how strong I am, and how people are so happy they met me. I'm shocked. Utterly shocked. And I'm not just saying that to be modest or humble. Honestly, I sit there and listen to different people's stories and the things people have to overcome and I feel incredibly lucky. Yes, I've had curve balls come my way, and yes, I've dealt with them the way I have, but I don't think I'm anything special because of it. Truly. I actually tear up every...

Ignorance is Bliss...

I'm not sure if I just woke up on the wrong side of the bed, but I've been thinking about this a lot: You know, I get dismissals like "I forget things too, it happens/not a big deal" ALL THE TIME.  Yes. It does happen. But for it to happen this often (dozens of times a day) and to happen when it didn't used to happen...naturally gets to you. Just like you don't tell people whose eyesight deteriorates with age that "there are blind people out there, you're fine", you don't tell us "there are dumb people out there, it's...

Tackling TBIs

For those who don't know, there is a clinical trial for concussion research. I have written up some information about the initial process to give you an idea of what is involved, but as with any clinical trials, most of it is subject to confidentiality. I encourage you to check it out, apply, and see if it helps you, while assisting brain injury research. How can we complain about no one understanding us, if we won't be the first in line to help where we can? With the Super Bowl on last night, this is as good of a time...
